CHECK THE PANEL FIRST
Will your panel handle an EV charger?
A Level 2 charger is one of the biggest loads in your house, and many older Spokane homes have 100-amp panels that are already close to full.
Mike runs the numbers on your actual panel before quoting. Sometimes the charger fits as is. Sometimes it can be set to a lower amp level and still fill your battery overnight. Sometimes the honest answer is a panel upgrade. You’ll know which, and why, before you spend a dime.
(Most drivers only need to replace the miles they drove that day. You probably need less charger than you think.)
PANEL + EV CHARGER
One permit, one inspection, one power shutoff, one price. If your panel needs replacing to handle the charger, Mike does both in the same visit so you aren’t paying for two trips.
Need a panel upgrade too? Do it in one job.

What does EV charger installation cost in Spokane?
Most Spokane installs, charger included, run [$X to $Y]. The price mainly depends on:
How far your panel is from where you park
Whether your panel has room for a new 240-volt circuit
Detached garages or outdoor runs that need trenching
Heads up on rebates: the federal EV charger tax credit ended for chargers installed after June 30, 2026, and Avista’s Washington home charger rebate is currently closed. If a quote is priced “after rebates,” ask which one.
Charger + installation
[$X to $Y]
With a panel upgrade: [$X to $Y]. Fixed price in writing before any work starts.
Meet Mike, your Spokane electrician
I've wired Spokane homes for 20 years. I started HouseCall because I got tired of watching companies sell people work they didn't need. If your panel can handle a charger without an upgrade, I’ll tell you. When you call, you get me. Not a call center, not a commissioned salesperson.

Most installs, charger included, run [$X to $Y]. The biggest factors are the distance from your panel to where you park and whether your panel has room for a new circuit. Text Mike a photo of your panel for a ballpark.
-
Not always. Mike does a load check on your panel first. Many homes can add a charger as is, or with the charger set to a lower amp level. If an upgrade is truly needed, he can do both in one visit.
-
For most homes, hardwired. Code now requires GFCI protection on EV outlets, and those breakers can nuisance-trip with some chargers. Hardwiring avoids that, skips a plug that can wear out, and allows a faster charging rate. [Mike to confirm]
-
Yes. Mike installs a charger with the plug that fits your car, and adapters cover the rest. Tell him what you drive and he’ll match the charger.
-
Roughly 25 to 45 miles of range per hour, depending on your car and charger. A regular wall outlet adds about 3 to 5. For most people that means a full battery by morning, even after a cold Spokane commute.
-
Yes. Inside Spokane city limits, the City of Spokane issues the electrical permit. Elsewhere in the county, it goes through Washington L&I. Mike pulls the permit and schedules the inspection.
-
As of fall 2026, the federal EV charger tax credit has ended and Avista’s Washington home charger rebate is closed. Programs change, so Mike will tell you if a new one opens up.
-
Yes. Outdoor-rated chargers can go on an exterior wall or a post, and detached garages may need a trench. Both are priced up front in your written quote.
-
Most are done in [one day]. Jobs that include a panel upgrade or trenching can take longer, and Mike will tell you up front.
